BMZ Parliamentary State Secretary, Thomas Silberhorn, visited Gaborone

On 31st January 2017 Mr. Thomas Silberhorn, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), visited Gaborone, Botswana. He met with the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Mrs. Mushobekwa. Both sides emphasized the potentials of regional economic integration and industrialization for the further development of the SADC region. 

Moreover, meetings took place with the Botswana Minister for Finance and Economic Development, Mr. Matambo, and the Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr. Mabeo. In particular, the topics cooperation with the private sector as well as perspectives for the youth through vocational training were discussed.

The Consultations on Development Cooperation between the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Federal Republic of Germany, which take place every two years, have been successfully concluded on 18 November 2016. The delegations were headed by Dr. Stergomena Tax, Executive Secretary of SADC, and Mr. Benjamin Seidel, Representative of the Department "Southern Africa" in the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
